Essay Writing

  • Knowledge of Contemporary Issues – PEST: Political, Environmental & Climate Change, Social & Cultural / Science & Ethics, Technology & AI
  • Argumentation Skills – clear stand, logical arguments, supported with Singapore & global examples
  • Critical Thinking – evaluating perspectives, avoiding one-sided arguments, showing awareness of complexity
  • Essay Structure – introduction (thesis), 2–4 body paragraphs (arguments + examples), counterargument, conclusion
⏱ 1 Hr · Comprehension

Comprehension

  • Inference Skills – implied meanings, tone and attitude
  • Summary Skills – paraphrasing, extracting key points
  • Language Skills – vocabulary, explaining phrases and expressions
  • Evaluation Skills – commenting on effectiveness of arguments, analysing structure & logic
